What are barbarians? In my own words barbarians are uncivilized, insensitive, cruel, cultureless people. If we add the term Intelligent, we form a paradox. How can an uncivilized, insensitive, cruel, cultureless man be intelligent? Intelligence, in my own words, is a factor of the human mind which is responsible for analysis, problem solving, and remembering facts. Intelligent Barbarians is the result of an educational system that focuses only on acquiring skills and knowledge required for a particular profession. They are very knowledgeable when it comes to their field, very good in analysis and problem solving. They have high passing marks in school but lacks moral values. An educational system must also focus on the morality of the students. The students must also learn the value of honor, hardwork, honesty, humility, sincerity, charity, and respect to fellow humans, not just the skills and knowledge needed for a particular profession.
These "intelligent barbarians" will do anything to get to the top, even if it means breaking the law or stepping on others. They are the masters of "cut throat" competition, they are cruel and insensitive, they have no respect for others and could care less as long as they achieve their goals. I have fallen victim many times already to these kind of people. They act like lambs when in reality they are wolves under sheep's clothing. For them betrayal is a "no brainer", they can betray you anytime, when you least expect it.
Now you might be thinking "What is the connection?" The connection lies in the common excuse of the botters, that they bot because they go to school. After arguing with some of the botters, I am impressed at how good they are at analysis, problem solving and open discussions. They amazed me with their articulation and wits. They managed to give me a hard time in explaining and defending our honorable cause. From my conversations with them I concluded that these people are intelligent. They are intelligent but they lack values. During our conversations there are the occasional words of disrespect coming from them, how can someone educated to a college level speak like a goon? "Parang walang pinag-aralan" as I thought. Then they defend the act of botting as if botting is right and just. They gave many issues, like the subjectivity, load efficiency etc etc. Look at how the incompetency of LUG has twisted these people's mind, they don't even know now what is right or wrong. For them it's ok to cheat and break the rules as long you don't get caught. Now they no longer value honesty, hardwork, and honor. They bot multiple characters because of greed. All they care about is reaching the much coveted 99/70. Reaching 99/70 has lost all its glamour and honor. Before you are regarded with respect when you reach 99 second job, now it just proves how good you are at botting. I'm not saying people should play RO 24/7, I want to say be honest, follow the rules and regulations, play only when you can, be responsible in RO and the real life.
I have no qualms about their intelligence. Yup! They are intelligent but they lack the right values. "Kung sa maliit na bagay nandadaya ka na, paano pa kaya sa mga malalaking bagay? Let this be a reminder to all of us. In my opinion, if intelligent barbarians are to be the future of this nation, it would be a grim, and dark future ahead of us.
